    Greetings Explorers,

    The Survival Beta has been running for a few weeks now, and we have received a lot of great feedback so far. I have a list of things that I want to change for the final version based on what you guys have posted, so keep it up!

    If you have tried out the Survival Beta and haven't given any feedback yet, please do so as it will help us improve the experience for the final version (or if you already gave feedback and want to give some more, feel free to do that as well)!

    It would be helpful if your feedback was in the following format:
    • Things you liked about your experience in the Survival Beta
    • Things you did not like about your experience in the Survival Beta
    • Things you would like to see changed, removed, or added in the final version.
    Based on what I have seen during the tests and from the feedback received so far, I plan on making the following changes by the final version:
    • Ores will spawn much less frequently.
    • Some SlimeFun items will be completely removed from the server, items that will be removed include:
      • Tome of Knowledge Sharing
      • Explosive pickaxe
      • Elemental Staff: Wind
      • Slime Armor
      • Spawner stuff (I have my own plans for this)
      • Tier 2 Talismans
      • Sword of beheading (I have my own plans for this)
      • The cargo network will likely be nerfed, otherwise I am worried we will see the same lag issues we saw on Skyblock
      • (if you have any additional SlimeFun items you think should be removed, please tell me)
    • The OP loot from structures will be removed.
    • Wheat Farm biomes will be less common.
    • A lot of people like living underground, so more stuff will be added underground to discover.
    • A "hub" area will be added where players can meet up, trade, safely afk, etc.
    • More custom items will be added, including crafted items with sockets (bows, axes, iron armor) and special loot for bosses.
    • Coffee, unicorns, and sunsets.

    I guess I should post for what it's worth.

    Things you liked about your experience in the Survival Beta:
    • I really enjoyed the mob difficulty to be honest. I didn't go that close to the center, mostly because I felt like I should be properly prepared for the trip.
    • It's been said already, but the biomes are amazing.
    Things you did not like about your experience in the Survival Beta:
    • The furnace stack problem, only thing that bothered me.
    Things you would like to see changed, removed, or added in the final version:
    • I did notice that ores seem to spawn a lot more frequently, even near where you spawn. I was able to get 2 stacks of iron ore in under an hour, and I died 3 times during that. Gold I got a stack of, Emeralds i got 43, Coal I didn't bother with at first, same with lapis. I feel like it should probably be a bit more balanced than that.
    Of course I didn't get any diamonds :p.

    Tala, could you maybe add a list of known bugs etc. at the end of the post? I wasn't sure if i should post about the furnace issue again or not.

    Things I liked about Survival Beta:

    The new map generator is impressive in many ways. But there is a few things that bug me about it. (See below)

    The MCMMO plug-in for me is very fun. And I for one am very glad it's back for this version of Survival.

    The Beta objectives have also been fun to complete.

    I like that we have been able to play on the same map during the Beta test. While I know it will all go poof when the final Survival server is released.
    I feel it helps us get a better idea about how this new Survival server is going to work. Something that is much harder to do, if you are constantly being reset.

    I like the death chests. 1 hour is plenty of time to get your stuff back usually. I don't know what plug-in handles this but it's nice please keep it. This works well but I'm confused why it says I should use /back after I die to get to where I died when it's disabled? Might want to remove that.

    I too like the tougher MOBs. But the Zombie duping can sometimes get out of hand.. And maybe they might need a little adjustment on chance of duping.

    I have missed there being a Survival server here for a long time and am very happy to be able to play it again. We have a great community with a lot of wonderful people and players. Sure I could make my own Vanilla Survival server. But it's the ability to play with the people of this community that sets this Survival apart from any other.

    Things I don't like about Survival Beta:

    The map


    Yes the new map generator is in many ways cool. But in some ways it seems not quite ready for prime time. It could just be me but it seems like many Vanilla Minecraft things are eliminated due to the custom terrain. Such as Desert temples, underwater monuments and woodland mansions. While others are made more rare. Like dungeons with zombie, skeletons or regular spider spawners. Seem very rare. So rare that I thought they didn't exist. Abandon mineshafts seem to spawn alright with cavespider spawners. For me finding these sort of things and using them has always been a big part of playing Survival.

    I'm going to guess that the custom terrain limits or eliminates the places some of these can spawn. As with everything there is a trade off. So rarer dungeons and the elimination of Desert temples / Underwater monuments may be a worthwhile trade for new cooler maps.

    Some trees look good with the new map generator while others look hideous. The mix of types of wood and leaves is strange to say the least. It also makes it too easy to get all types of wood. When normally you'd have to find different biomes to find some types.

    Biomes are neat as well but some are too large and to common.
    (Wheat farms make getting food far too easy.)

    Other things that bother me.

    The game freezes for a good 4-5 seconds when you first log on. I think this may have something to do with the texture pack? Skyblock does this as well to a lesser degree.

    The chain armor texture looks awful.

    When you die it says use /back But /back is disabled.

    Zombie dupping is so overpowered! I die a lot and most are at the hand of over duping zombies.

    I'm sure there is more things but I can't think of them at the moment.

    Despite my complaints, I'm very happy to have a Survival Server to play on. (Even if it's in Beta)

    Thanks for the feedback Casp. One thing that annoys me about the new generator is that some perfectly good vanilla content, like temples and water shrines, are disabled by default. It is possible to re-add them though, and I have been tweaking a lot of settings, so hopefully things like desert temples and woodland mansions will be in the final version.

    The resource pack thing is definitely a problem. I freeze for about 6-7 seconds and some people are freezing for 30 seconds or longer when joining. I guess this is a standard thing for servers that use custom resource packs? We could get by without the resource pack, but I was hoping to make use of it to add other special items like emerald weapons/tools and so on.

    I will make note of those bugs and make some tweaks to mobs.

    • Things you liked about your experience in the Survival Beta
    The increased difficulty in mobs
    The wands that can be upgraded trough grinding
    and using the wands to unlock /tpa, /tpahere, and /back (you may want to disable some spells)
    Wands for movement, combat, grinding, discovering. I'm looking forewards to testing it in a pvp match.
    Mcmmo and its additions (potions, Combat, repairing)
    Slimefun
    Being able to duplicate items, it makes it so much easier to get items, and thus makes progress easier to beta-test more advanced things.
    The custom trees, also from saplings. they look better and give more wood.
    Being able to have spawners in my base.
    The big amount of ores.
    Death chests and death compass
    • Things you did not like about your experience in the Survival Beta
    - The nether is very flat, when I read 'custom nether generation' I thought of amplefied like nether, not overworld like nether. the current overworld looks better than the current nether. as it is right now I prefer the vanilla nether. although I do like the obsidian and netherwart spikes.
    The main reason it looks boring is that there is no roof or walls, and not much hight differences, flatlands and ocean make it look flat.

    - Theres barely any mobs spawning near the center, and if they are they're mostly underground.
    - Not enough mushroom biomes, the custom mushroom biome is beautifull.
    - Some magic spells can only be used in the nether. because thats the only pvp zone.
    - The Clue Scrolls, they don't cooperate well with slimefun and mcmmo, and loot caches aren't great for survival.
    - Ghostblocks that come with insta-mining.
    - No good explanation on how to use wands.
    - Being limited to a maximum of 2000 claimblocks
    • Things you would like to see changed, removed, or added in the final version.
    Slimefun things in custom structures
    Wonky-er nether / less nether ocean and flatlands
    more mushroom biomes
    more monsters on the surface.
    Some spells should be removed because they're utterly useless. Since theres already slimefun items that do that. Or because they really don't do anything for you. Like secure and chop.
    A big pvp area in the middle, where you can also claim ground and live in.
    Balancing spells
